THE BEGINNINGS
My passion for the sport started when I was 7 years old. My parents visited a friend, and he had racing pigeons in the backyard. His name was Frans Du Plessis, and it turned out that he raced with legends like Frans Putterie, Sunny Kippen, etc. Later in my young life many a Sunday was spent with him listening and learning. Uncle Frans was my inspiration till he passed away 3 years ago. He was my "pigeon father".

My real dad always disaproved of my hobby. Years later, doing my military service in the SAPS, I started racing in the OERFederation, in those days there was 280 plus members, and my clock was left unopened most of the time. Success was limited.

Later I became a taxidermist, and did not race pigeons for a few years because of work commitment. Then, in 2004 the "gogga bit me again". I purchased all the children of the famous FLIP PELSER COCK on the late C.J. Lombard's sale, and till today they are part of our success.

In 2005 a friend of mine, and current OERF Champion, Andre Reynders visited the late Tom Lock.  He was a small loft fancier, and built a super family with little money spent. The basket and strict selection was the key to his success. We purchased the R100 000 SUPER PAIR, as well as 30116. This caused quite a stir in the pigeon sport at the time, and many thought I was crazy. Today it is history what these pigeons have achieved for many fanciers all over South Africa. Later we also purchased the R80 000 SUPER PAIR, and these 3 pairs's offspring made us Organization Champions for many seasons.

The Tom Lock Family helped us achieve the following:

* Good One-Loft performances

Till today the Tom Lock Foundation plays the biggest part in our success. They form the backbone of our family. We have introduced the following families with great success:

* Clausings from Tertia Engelbrecht
* Van Rhyn Cloecks
* BAK 17 De Rauw Sablon
* Recently KAASBOER Imports.

Of all new families purchased, the De Rauw Sablon/M. Aelbrecht BAK 17 line  when crossed with our R80 000 and R100 000 SUPER PAIR's progeny has made the biggest impact with multiple winners and Ace Pigeons bred of this combination.

THE FUTURE
 Due to our bad experience with the armed robbery in our house, and our current labour situation at the lofts, we have decided to probably alter our vision for the future.

We feel we can make a contribution to the pigeon sport by doing the following:
1. To teach keen fanciers how to successfully race pigeons. We have already identified a few potential fanciers. We have limited time available. To many times so called bad pigeons are blamed for bad results, while the fault lies with the owner in many respects.
2. To breed an extra 50-100 pairs of stock from our ACE PIGEONS and their parents, and to supply performance based babies for racing purposes.
3. To build our own pigeon family from the Ace Pigeons. This will be achieved by results from babies raced from these new pairs.


DEVELOPING OUR OWN ACE FAMILY
We have decided that the time has come for us to start concentrating on building our own pigeon family based on all our own ACE PIGEONS, and their parents.
Our focus now has shifted to breeding the ultimate pigeon family from ACE PIGEONS.
These ACE PIGEONS have tremendous race records, and are all multiple winners.
Our ACE HENS's progeny has all bred winners as well. As well as some of their grand children for friends.

By mating parents of NATIONAL ACE PIGEONS with other related ORGANISATIONAL AND NATIONAL ACE Pigeons should shorten our road to success considerably. We intend to breed at least 40-50 pairs for stock from all these different matings and pairings.

We have purchased back all the sires and dams of the following SANPO GOLD MEDAL Winners, and shall now use them to focus on breeding our own Family.

It is exciting times for us to have been able to obtain these top breeders back into our stock lofts, and to finalise the developement of our own SOUTH AFRICAN ACE PIGEON FAMILY.

This season we have already bred winners and double winners from children of our ACE pigeons. We intend to breed at least 40-50 new pairs for our current stock loft from these ACE PIGEONS and their SIRES, and uncles etc. for stock.
